Five men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead.

A man in his 40s was found unresponsive in a property on Great Clowes Street in the Broughton area of Salford at about 19:50 BST on Tuesday, Greater Manchester said.

The man was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Detectives are urging anyone with information to contact them.

The arrested men, aged between 24 and 35, remain in police custody for questioning.

Det Ch Insp Ian Partington said: “Our priority is to establish exactly what happened and we are keeping an open mind as we work to build a full picture of the events leading up to his death.

“A post-mortem is taking place to establish the cause of death, which will be an important part of our investigation.”

He said the force was confident “there isn’t any wider threat to the public”.
