Stranger Things star David Harbour is ‘taking life day by day’ as he navigates the possible end of his marriage to singer Lily Allen and the conclusion of the Netflix series that made him a household name, sources have revealed to DailyMail.com.
The 49-year-old actor’s separation from Allen, 39, has been confirmed by friends of the Smile hitmaker, who told DailyMail.com that the couple have officially ‘split’ after months of speculation about their five-year relationship.
The split has been further cemented by Allen’s surprise appearance on celebrity dating app Raya, with a source unconnected to the singer sharing evidence of the star’s active profile with DailyMail.com.
‘Life as he knows it is changing, but he is taking it in stride,’ an insider exclusively revealed. ‘Stranger Things filming is now over, his relationship with Lily is basically over, and as much as that is hitting him hard, he has dealt with major life obstacles that have prepared him for such changes.’
The source opened up about how Harbour’s past battles with alcoholism and bipolar disorder have equipped him to handle this latest challenge, explaining: ‘He has been in some dark places in his life but has gotten out of them and has been able to get on the other side of it all.’
Despite the personal turmoil, Harbour has found solace in his career. ‘He is diving headfirst into his work to get him out of all his struggles and heartbreak. His career is working out, so he is happily riding that train for all that it is cracked up to be,’ the source added.
However, friends haven’t completely ruled out a reconciliation between the couple, who tied the knot in September 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown in New York.
‘There is a world where he and Lily get back together and figure it all out, but they both are weighing the pros and cons of it all,’ the insider disclosed. ‘He loves her very much, but they have a relationship that is very rocky for no apparent reason. They just find it easier to get on each other’s nerves, even though they are perfect for each other.’

Meanwhile, Allen appears to be exploring her options on the exclusive dating app Raya, where she was spotted last week. The mother-of-two’s profile, visible to female users, features a tongue-in-cheek bio stating she’s ‘looking for someone to start couples therapy with’ and indicates she is ‘visiting Los Angeles from New York’.
‘It’s a weird dance they are playing that might be figured out, but there are current struggles that have taken a toll as of late. For them to return to a solid and loving relationship is 50/50 at best,’ the source explained.
‘They have to try to keep things going, and neither want to put in the effort that is needed.’
The couple has previously spoken about meeting on a dating app themselves, with Harbour telling GQ Hype: ‘I was in London alone, doing, on this app, going on dates and stuff. And yeah, I started texting with her.
‘She was in Italy at the time – we got together, went on a date at the Wolseley [a restaurant in Mayfair], and it was, you know, she’s f***ing unbelievable.’
DailyMail.com has reached out to reps for Allen and Harbour for comment.
The news comes just days after Allen admitted on her podcast that she is ‘not in a great place mentally’ and is ‘bored of men’.
However, a friend told DailyMail.com that Allen had created a profile on Raya but wasn’t actively searching for dates, partly because she hasn’t yet divorced and ‘she takes marriage very seriously’.

Allen unfollowed Harbour on social media last year, and a source claimed to The Sun at the time that the couple were ‘living separate lives’.
Amid continued speculation surrounding her relationship, the Not Fair hitmaker took to her Instagram on Monday, where she uploaded a video of a pride of lions devouring a zebra carcass.
‘That circle of life. Brutal,’ the British singer captioned the cryptic post.
Allen has also been making headlines recently for other ventures, including selling photos of her feet on OnlyFans – a move she claims has proven more lucrative than her music streaming revenue.
She wrote on social media site X that she made more money from ‘having 1,000 people subscribe to pictures of your feet’ than from the royalties on her ‘nearly 8 million monthly listeners’ on music app Spotify.
