Eurostar advises passengers not to travel over Channel Tunnel outage | UK News

Eurostar has told passengers to postpone their travel plans after power supply problems caused “major disruption” in the Channel Tunnel.

Le Shuttle has said services at both terminals in Folkestone and Calais have been temporarily suspended “due to a power supply issue”.

A number of Eurostar trains between London St Pancras, Paris, Lille, Brussels and Amsterdam have been delayed or cancelled.

“We regret that trains that can run are subject to severe delays and last-minute cancellations,” Eurostar said in a statement.

At least a dozen Eurostar services between the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands have been cancelled – many more have already been delayed or altered.

Major disruption is expected to last until the end of the day, National Rail said.

Eurostar added: “Please don’t come to the station unless you already have a ticket to travel.

“Please check for live updates on the status of your train on the train status and timetables page.”

According to Eurostar, passengers can rearrange their plans free of charge or can cancel their booking and get a refund or an e-voucher.

Meanwhile, delays have also been reported on the Le Shuttle service that takes road vehicles on trains across the Channel.

On the UK side at Folkestone, Le Shuttle has said there is a delay of around three-and-a-half hours to the booked departure time.

Meanwhile, at the Calais terminal in France the delay is currently around three hours.

Le Shuttle said teams are working to resolve the power supply issues.
