Sophie Unwin and pilot Jenny Holl retained their road race title as Great Britain won 18 medals, including three golds, at the 2026 UEC Para-cycling Road European Championships in Italy.

Unwin, who is visually impaired, and Holl won road race gold at the 2024 Paris Paralympics, as well as the individual pursuit title on the track.

The pair finished just 0.75 seconds behind Ireland’s Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly in Friday’s time trial.

But they gained revenge in Sunday’s road race, edging out Dunlevy and Kelly and the other Irish tandem of Sinead Greenan and Alice Sharpe.

Unwin and Holl will part company for next month’s Commonwealth Games, with Unwin representing England with new pilot Sylvia Misztal while Holl will be part of Team Scotland.

But the pair are scheduled to reunite for September’s Para-cycling Road World Cup in Huntsville, Alabama.

There was also gold for Crystal Lane-Wright, who beat team-mate Morgan Newberry in the women’s C5 time trial and went on to claim road race bronze, while Amelia Cass triumphed in the C2 event and added silver in the road race.
