England defender Dan Burn is set to appear in a pantomime over the Christmas period.

The Newcastle player, 33, will make a cameo appearance in the Phoenix Theatre’s production of Aladdin as the voice of the Genie in Blyth, Northumberland.

He will appear in the role as a pre-recorded part and will not appear in person on the stage.

The theatre confirmed the role in a social media announcement.

The post read: “The secret’s out.

“Blyth’s very own Dan Burn is the voice of the Genie in Aladdin at The Phoenix Theatre this Christmas.

“Get ready for wishes, laughter, and a giant dose of Toon magic.

“Tickets are flying faster than a magic carpet.”

One wrote: “Great stuff.”

The England star has a history of stepping up in important games, including scoring against PSG in the Champions League and opening the scoring in the final against Liverpool, which ended a 70-year trophy drought.

Newcastle’s Christmas period is busier than most, with the Magpies facing Manchester United on Boxing Day.

The match is the only Premier League fixture taking place that day.
