An electric car driver is looking to become the UK’s most prolific EV charger, having visited one site more than 175 times.

Rebecca Parramore has already used the InstaVolt Superhub in Winchester more than 175 times, despite it only opening in March 2025.

Her role as an audiologist requires her to make home visits to patients across the south of England every day, covering almost 200 miles daily.

The 27-year-old relies solely on the Winchester Superhub to carry out her work, since she cannot charge her BYD Dolphin electric car at home.

The Winchester site, which is located near the A34 and Junction 9 of the M3, is the largest of its kind in the country and contains 44 ultra-rapid 160kW charging bays.

It includes several dedicated Blue Badge spaces, as well as extra-large bays designed for towing vehicles, vans and heavy goods vehicles.

Ms Parramore said going to the charging hub was part of her routine, adding that she makes use of the facilities at the site, as well as catching up on admin.

She continued, saying: “I don’t have a home charger, and my company has moved to electric vehicles – but once you drive an EV, you realise how great they are.

“I drive a BYD Dolphin and it couldn’t be better suited to my long days on the road.

“Charging at the Winchester Superhub has fit seamlessly into my day. You’re always guaranteed a charger, it’s well-lit and safe.”

The site is supported by a huge 870-panel solar farm to balance demand and reduce pressure on the national grid.

Any additional electricity is sourced solely from renewable energy through the charge point operator’s partnership with Octopus Energy.

In addition to the Winchester superhub, InstaVolt has more than 2,300 ultra-rapid chargers across the country, at more than 775 locations.

Delvin Lane, CEO of InstaVolt, highlighted that all of the chargers were available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and were designed to support every driver’s needs.

“We built the Winchester Superhub with every kind of EV driver in mind – from local residents and commuters to holiday makers and those without access to home charging – and Rebecca is a perfect example,” Mr Lane said.

He added that Instavolt always aims to prioritise comfort, convenience and reliability at its chargers and Superhubs.

InstaVolt is the largest provider of rapid and ultra-rapid electric car chargers across the UK, having narrowly beaten out Tesla SuperCharger by fewer than 40 chargers.

The charge point operator has an impressive market share of 12.2 per cent, while being the 11th largest charging company overall.

Electric vehicle owners have consistently been backed by the Government and private funding, with Chancellor Rachel Reeves recently announcing a huge investment in the technology.

During last month’s Autumn Budget, the Chancellor committed a further £200million to accelerate the installation of EV chargers across the country, alongside £1.3billion for the Electric Car Grant.
