Edinburgh Airport has suspended all incoming flights after a British Airways plane was forced to make an emergency landing.

British Airways flight BA1443 to London Heathrow diverted back to Edinburgh shortly after take-off due to a “technical issue”.

The plane, which departed at about 11am, could be seen travelling in circles for around 20 minutes before making its way back to the airport.

A British Airways spokesman said: “The aircraft returned to Edinburgh Airport safely after our pilots identified a technical issue after take-off.

“We’ve apologised to our customers for the disruption to their journey and our teams are working hard to get them on their way as soon as possible.”

All operations have now been suspended at the airport, it confirmed in a statement.

The airport said in a post to X: “Operations are currently suspended while teams respond to an aircraft issue.

“The aircraft landed safely and remains on the runway.

“Passengers are being taken back to the terminal via coaches and teams are carrying out inspections before operations resume.”
