An easyJet flight destined for Paris was diverted after an emergency occurred during the flight.

The EZY52GV aircraft left Edinburgh on Saturday, February 7.

It was due to land at Paris Charles de Gaulle less than three hours later, at 9.55am.

However, just 25 minutes into the flight, the flight was redirected to Manchester after a technical problem was discovered on board.

The pilot issued a 7700 squawk code, which is used to signal a general emergency.

Crew from the previous night (February 6) has already logged numerous problems with the aircraft, according to Airlive.

The outlet reports that Pneumatic Failures, Engine Issues and Electrical & Structural problems had all been noted.

Despite this, it was cleared for service the very next day.

Flight tracking information from Flightradar24 shows the plane circling south of Manchester before safely touching down at the airport.

The flight landed in Manchester at around 8.23am.

Following this, passengers were taken off the aircraft and later boarded a replacement plane.

The rescheduled flight left Manchester shortly before 10.40am, and eventually arrived in Paris at 12.44pm.

The EasyJet flight left Edinburgh for Paris at 7.14am, but passengers didn’t reach their destination until 12.44pm

Confirming the incident, an easyJet spokesman told EdinburghLive: “Flight EZY52GV from Edinburgh to Paris CDG today diverted to Manchester due to a technical issue.

“The aircraft landed routinely in Manchester, where customers were transferred to another aircraft and crew to continue their journey to Paris.

“The safety of our customers and crew is always easyJet’s highest priority, and the airline operates its fleet in full accordance with manufacturer guidelines.”

The diversion comes only days after another easyJet flight departing Edinburgh was forced to make an emergency landing.

Flight EZY3211 took off from the Scottish capital on Tuesday just after 11.10am, heading for the popular holiday destination of Fuerteventura.

Around two hours into the flight, a 7700 squawk code was activated, again indicating a general emergency, and the aircraft was diverted to Porto Airport following a reported technical issue.
