Eamonn Holmes shared a moving post to his social media on Thursday, reflecting on the “void” his late parents have left in his life in a rare insight into his personal grief.

The GB News presenter posted a black and white photo of his parents, Josie and Leonard, along with a candid message.

The GB News Breakfast host asked fans following him who he looked the most like based on the sweet snap, which showed a young couple smiling for the camera.

“Who do u think I look more like – my Mum or my Dad? Josie or Leonard?” he wrote.

The post continued: “Although they have both passed away, I hear each of them in my head every day.

“I know what they would think and how they would advise me. When they would agree with me and when they wouldn’t.

“Laughter was a big part of all of our lives because of them.”

Ending the post, he poignantly added: “What a void they have left,” along with a sad face emoji.

Sympathetic fans quickly flooded the comments section with supportive messages, sharing their own experiences with parent loss.

“I agree with every word you said Mr Holmes! I think you look like Josie your mother,” one wrote.

A second added: “A wonderful combination of both… I totally understand about hearing the voice.”

“You very much look like your Mum. That’s such a beautiful photo too,” another shared.

Someone else replied: “Absolutely, you look like both of them. Precious souls. Oh how we miss our mums and dads.”

“Your mum. It’s awful feeling it never goes away the missing x,” another reflected.

The post follows a recent health update from the People’s Channel favourite, who often shares candid reflections on his medical battles.

The 65-year-old took to Instagram earlier this week to inform fans he’s having to wear a patch over his right eye following a recent hospital visit.

Mixing in his signature humour, he shared two pictures in which he was sporting the eye patch and wrote: “One of these eye patches was put on in hospital and the other one by me. See if u can guess which?”

Ending the post, he quipped: “Ps U should see the other guy!!!” (sic)
