PepsiCo has launched an urgent recall of Doritos Chilli Heatwave crisps after discovering that certain packets were mistakenly filled with a different flavour containing milk.
The Food Standards Agency has warned that the affected products present a potential health hazard for individuals suffering from milk allergies or intolerances.
The recall comes as British shoppers face a second similar alert within days, with Morrisons also pulling a snack product from shelves over undeclared dairy content.
Consumers with the affected items are being urged to return them immediately for a full refund rather than risk an allergic reaction.

The specific recall affects 140g packets of Doritos Chilli Heatwave bearing batch code GBC 209 184C and a best before date of 5 December 2026.
According to the FSA, these bags may have been incorrectly filled with Tangy Cheese flavoured crisps rather than the Chilli Heatwave variety stated on the packaging.
The agency stated: “This product contains milk, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”
The problem arises because Tangy Cheese Doritos contain milk as an ingredient, whereas the Chilli Heatwave recipe does not.
This means the allergen is not declared on the packaging, leaving those with dairy sensitivities unaware of the potential danger lurking inside their crisp packet.
Morrisons has simultaneously issued its own recall affecting 140g packets of its Maple & Bacon Back of the Net snack.
The supermarket chain discovered that some packs had been filled with an alternative product containing milk, which was not listed among the ingredients on the outer packaging.
Shoppers should check for items displaying a best before date of 22 August 2026.
The retailer has contacted allergy support organisations to spread awareness of the issue and has placed notices throughout its stores to inform customers.
This represents the second food safety incident to hit British supermarket shelves in a matter of days.
Allergic reactions to dairy can range considerably in severity, from milder symptoms such as itchy mouth, swollen lips, rashes and nausea through to severe anaphylaxis.
