Tesco has issued a warning to Clubcard customers as vouchers worth £16.5million are due to expire at the end of this month.

The supermarket is urging members to check their accounts and redeem vouchers before midnight on November 30.

The expiring vouchers were first issued two years ago and can be used for groceries, fuel or a range of reward partner offers.

Tesco confirmed the value of vouchers at risk is higher than usual for a quarterly expiry period.

Customers can use the vouchers in store or online towards their weekly shop or at Tesco fuel stations.

They can also convert them through the Clubcard Rewards scheme, which enables members to exchange vouchers for higher value deals with more than 100 partner companies.

Tesco said the vouchers will become invalid after 11.59pm on November 30.

The supermarket is encouraging customers to check the Tesco app or their online accounts to ensure they do not miss the deadline.

Shama Wilson, group membership and loyalty director at Tesco, said: “We don’t want anyone to miss out on making the most of their Tesco Clubcard Vouchers, and with some great new offers with Clubcard Rewards this really is a great time to use those vouchers up.”

She added: “The value of vouchers expiring is higher than usual this quarter, and if all the vouchers expiring were used for Tesco Tuesdays it would be enough to get six point six million cinema tickets at Cineworld.”

Tesco said reward partner exchanges can offer significantly greater value than spending vouchers directly.

Cinema and restaurant deals are currently among the most popular reward options.

Wilson said: “If customers exchanged their expiring vouchers with Pizza Express, they could secure £49.5million of reward codes towards food.”

She added: “So it really is worth checking in the Tesco app to see if you have any vouchers expiring.”

Tesco recently launched a new partnership with Cineworld.

Clubcard members can obtain Tuesday cinema tickets for five pounds or redeem £2.50 in vouchers instead.

The retailer said the Tuesday offer runs alongside the existing Clubcard Rewards cinema scheme, which allows members to redeem vouchers for double their value throughout the week.

The new partnership launched this month, giving customers additional redemption options as the expiry deadline approaches.

Members can activate the deals through the Tesco app, where available vouchers and reward partner offers are displayed.

Tesco said customers should review individual partner terms before converting vouchers, as redemption conditions vary.

Pizza Express has also introduced a promotional exchange rate allowing customers to convert £10 worth of vouchers for £30 off a restaurant bill.

Tesco said the offer, which launched last week, adds further incentive for households to check for expiring vouchers.

There are more than 24 million Clubcard households across the UK.

Tesco said the large membership base means significant value could be lost if vouchers are not redeemed in time.

Customers can view their voucher balance by logging into their Clubcard accounts online or via the Tesco app.

Tesco said shoppers can also request replacement vouchers if they locate unspent ones issued less than two years ago.

The supermarket advised customers to redeem vouchers ahead of the deadline to ensure they benefit from the available offers.

Further details are provided on Tesco’s website and app, including current partner promotions and expiry dates.
