German toymaker Steiff has unveiled a special collector’s teddy bear to honour what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday.

The commemorative bear, priced at £289, has been produced in a strictly limited run of just 4,996 pieces worldwide.

This specific number pays tribute to the late monarch, who died at the age of 96.

The centenary milestone is expected to prompt celebrations and events remembering the Queen’s life across Britain and internationally.

STEIFF

Steiff, the company credited with inventing the teddy bear over 150 years ago, has crafted this tribute using their renowned attention to detail and traditional techniques.

The bear is fashioned from premium mohair and dressed in one of the Queen’s most recognisable ensembles – the striking lime green coat and matching hat she wore during one of her final public appearances.

Every classic accessory has been faithfully recreated, including her signature pearl necklace, a glittering crystal brooch, and the ever-present handbag.

Each piece carries Steiff’s distinctive brass button ear tag and comes individually numbered with a certificate of authenticity, presented in a quality souvenir bag.

The five-way jointed bear is fully poseable, with delicate coloured embroidery on the soles of its feet marking the centenary occasion.

A miniature jewelled brooch and elegantly decorated hat showcase the meticulous craftsmanship Steiff has perfected over its 150-year history.

Ian Munro, Director of International Sales at Steiff, said: “The Queen may have been physically slight, but her presence was immense.

“With her striking outfits in vibrant tones, she deliberately ensured she would be visible even in the largest crowds.

“Our anniversary Teddy bear reflects this image.”

He continued: “21st April will be a very moving date for many people. With her death, the world lost not only a Queen, but a part of history.

“It’s our absolute honour to mark the occasion in the only way we know how at Steiff – with a beautifully hand crafted bear that captures hearts now, and will be passed down the generations for people to cherish for decades to come – much like the legacy of Queen Elizabeth II herself.”https://www.gbnews.com/royal/queen-elizabeth-ii-royal-family-photograph
