Conor McGregor and his long-term partner Dee Devlin are reportedly preparing to marry in Rome before the end of the year.

The couple, who have been together for more than a decade and share four children, are said to be considering several Vatican locations for an intimate Catholic ceremony.

Multiple Irish media outlets suggest the pair hope to celebrate their nuptials in the Italian capital before Christmas, with December 12 circulating as a potential date.

Sources close to the family told The Mirror that the couple have looked at venues close to St Peter’s Basilica, although no plans have been confirmed publicly.

“Conor and Dee want to get married before Christmas and are planning a wedding at the Vatican in Rome,” a source quoted by the newspaper said.

“They ideally would like to marry in the Sistine Chapel but it is not allowed – it is all hush hush at the moment but December 12 is the date mentioned.”

The Sistine Chapel does not permit marriage ceremonies, meaning the pair would need to choose an alternative site within the Vatican.

One option reportedly under consideration is the Cappella del Coro, which can host up to 100 guests beside St Peter’s Basilica.

McGregor, 37, and Devlin, 38, began dating 16 years ago and became engaged in 2020.

The couple live in Straffan, Co Kildare, with their four children — one daughter and three sons.

Devlin has long been at the centre of McGregor’s personal and professional life, regularly accompanying him at fights and promotional appearances.

While promoting the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship in Rome earlier this month, McGregor hinted that a wedding was imminent.

Speaking publicly about his faith, the former UFC champion described himself as being on a “spiritual journey”.

“I am not here just by chance. There is a higher power, God, that dictates my journey and all of our journeys,” he said.

“I live my life by God’s word … I have engaged on a spiritual journey. I am saved. I am healed.”

Standing alongside Devlin and their children, he added: “Now I’m here with my own family, my beautiful children, my fiancée, wife-to-be soon.”

The couple’s wedding preparations come following a period of intense media scrutiny following the conclusion of a civil case brought against McGregor last year.

In November 2024, he was ordered by a Dublin court to pay €250,000 in damages (£218,000) to businesswoman Nikita Hand. The ruling related to a 2018 incident at a Dublin hotel.

McGregor denied wrongdoing throughout the case and maintained that the encounter between them had been consensual.

The proceedings were civil, not criminal, and did not result in a conviction.

McGregor later lodged an appeal on five grounds. However, in July this year the Court of Appeal upheld the original judgment, rejecting each of those grounds.

Neither McGregor nor Devlin have commented publicly on the reported wedding arrangements. Vatican officials have not confirmed whether any application has been made. With the timing and venue still unannounced, speculation around one of Ireland’s most high-profile couples looks set to continue in the weeks ahead.
