Harry and Meghan set to visit the UK

GB NEWS

It was previously thought that the Sussexes had accepted King Charles’s hospitality

The Royal Household has not received any acceptance from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex regarding an offer to stay at a royal property during their forthcoming UK trip, GB News understands.

This contradicts previous understanding that Prince Harry and Meghan had agreed to accommodation on a royal estate.

Following days of conflicting claims and subsequent retractions about what various parties may have indicated, no formal response to the accommodation invitation is understood to have reached the Royal Household.

The apparent confusion emerged after it was thought that the Sussexes had accepted King Charles’s hospitality for their planned July visit.

GB News previously reported that the Sussexes would divide their time between a royal residence and private accommodation during their stay.

The trip, scheduled for next month, would mark the first occasion Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, have visited Britain since 2022.

Both children accompanied their parents at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations four years ago.

A Palace source had previously told the People’s Channel on June 19 that accommodation on the royal estate had been offered to the family for potential visits.

It was understood earlier this week that this invitation had finally been taken up.

Prince Harry’s programme will commence with an Invictus Games Foundation event at Chatham House before the couple make their first joint public appearance in Britain since 2020 at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Neither Archie nor Lilibet will participate in official engagements during the visit, with details of private arrangements remaining undisclosed.

The duke has previously expressed concerns about bringing his family to the UK following his unsuccessful legal challenge over publicly funded police protection.

Speaking to the BBC after that ruling, he stated: “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”
