The chair of the Public Accounts Committee has shared his verdict on when Sir Keir Starmer will be ousted from Downing Street amid the Peter Mandelson scandal.

Speaking to GB News, Sir Geoffrey Clifton Brown said the Prime Minister’s current situation was akin to that faced by Boris Johnson in the dying days of his premiership.

“This is the beginning to build up, the lull before the storm. It’s obvious that something was going to happen.

“Boris eventually had to fall on his sword and go. I don’t think Keir will go immediately, but if they get a really bad result in the local government elections, they will use this as the excuse for his actions over the Mandelson affair, saying he’s got to go,” the Conservative MP said.

“I’d be very surprised if he’s still there by the end of the year,” he predicted.

Sir Keir has come under renewed intense pressure following fresh revelations about the vetting process and the bombshell testimony of the now ousted Foreign Office chief Sir Olly Robbins.
