Christopher Hope has hit out after Keir Starmer failed to take a question from the GB News political editor during a Downing Street press conference.

The People’s Channel presenter later took to social media to express his frustration at being overlooked despite raising his hand to ask a question.

Sharing an image of himself attempting to catch the Prime Minister’s attention, Christopher poked fun at the situation.

The image showed Christopher with a rather frustrated and exasperated expression after realising the PM opted against facing questions from Britain’s number one news channel.

Christopher wrote on X: “That feeling when the Prime Minister prefers to call a TikTok influencer and not @GBNEWS at a press conference, as he did this morning.”

Before long, fans quickly reacted. “Says more about him @Keir_Starmer,” one fan posted, while another added: “No loss. Starmer has nothing of interest to say.”

A third insisted that the “government is hiding from the reality of its policies and citizens”.

“@Keir_Starmer & @UKLabour doing their best to avoid questions they don’t like ( or refuse ) to answer. Absolutely pathetic,” wrote another.

The snub came during a press conference on April 1, in which Mr Starmer addressed mounting global and domestic pressures, warning the UK faces a potentially “fierce” economic “storm” in the months ahead.

While the Prime Minister stopped short of announcing emergency measures, he used the appearance to highlight existing policies, including changes to minimum wage rates and welfare reforms, as part of his argument that Britain is prepared to weather external shocks.

He also emphasised that the UK would not be drawn further into escalating tensions abroad.

“This is not our war,” the Prime Minister insisted, in reference to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

Christopher suggested the snub was not an isolated incident, claiming during an interview that similar situations had occurred “quite a lot” in recent months.

The GB News political editor has previously raised concerns, including claims that senior Government figures have declined to engage with the channel.

In August 2024, the People’s Channel presenter was overlooked by Sir Keir when he opened the floor to questions following his Downing Street garden speech.

Questions from ITV, BBC, and Channel 4 were taken, but GB News was left out.

At the time, Christopher wrote on X: “@GBNEWS has only been called to ask a question by Sir Keir Starmer once in five press conferences since Labour’s election win last month.

“If you look closely, you can spot me with my hand in the air today in the Downing St garden.” (sic)
