Charlie Mullins has accused Rachel Reeves of “robbing the rich to feed illegal migrants” as he heaped blame on Labour for his decision to turn his back on Britain.

Speaking on Britain’s Newsroom with Miriam Cates and Andrew Pierce, the founder of Pimlico Plumbers laid into the Chancellor ahead of her second Budget on November 26.

Mr Mullins said living in the UK in its current state is “pointless” and the only thing he misses about it is his family.

The British businessman announced in September 2024 that he would be relocating to Spain and Dubai in response to Labour’s landslide win earlier that year in July amid fears Ms Reeves would be targeting the rich in a tax raid.

Speaking to the presenters, he blasted: “I went because of Labour. I went because of Reeves. I went because I could predict everything she was going to do. She’s robbing the rich to feed all the illegals.

“And it will continue. I think there’s a quarter of a million that left last year.

“And I think that figure will double this year. And it’s not just the millionaires or billionaires, it’s really anybody that can afford to leave the UK and wants to leave the UK.”

Approximately 257,000 Britons fled the nation in 2024, which is up 250 per cent from the previous estimate of 77,000, the Office for National Statistics confirmed.

“I think everyone’s fed up with the the crime situation, the NHS, the police,” the expat mused.

“The cost of living crisis – all in everything. And I think it’s now just become pointless to be in the UK if you don’t need to be in the UK.”

Miriam pointed out that it was the Tories who first hiked taxes on wealthier Britons, and asked why Mr Mullins waited until after Labour shot to power to leave.

While in Government, the Conservatives froze tax thresholds, forcing millions of Britons into forking out more cash to the state.

As a result, the top one per cent of earners now pay 30 per cent of income tax, for instance.

Mr Mullins admitted he should have left Britain before Labour took power, explaining: “No, you’re right. I should have left then. But I just got to the stage that I’m not prepared to tolerate.

“I’m not prepared to put in the pot anymore. I think they’ve just abused the working class people.

“Anybody that contributes, they seem to be attacking them and giving to people that shouldn’t even be in the country.”

As a result of Ms Reeves’s work, Mr Mullins predicted more people will be leaving this year “than ever”.

“I’m talking to loads of people, normal people that have got a decent job and they’re off to Dubai or off to Marbella, where I am. And it will continue.

“It’s mismanagement by the Labour Government. It’s the threat of all the increases.

“And when she brings out this wealth tax on property, property will drop massively and there’ll be a massive influx of people leaving again.”

The Chancellor is believed to be mulling over a new mansion tax on November 26.

Under the plans, owners of properties worth £2million and move could be charged one per cent of the amount by which the property goes above that value.

At the same time, owners of a property worth £3million will be slapped with an annual £10,000 bill, the Mail on Sunday reported.

Additionally, those who are homeowners of properties worth tens of millions, as well as those owning a second home, could be facing higher taxes.

Talking about whether he does miss anything from his home country, he said: “I don’t miss anything. I don’t miss the crime. I don’t miss the safety aspect of it.

“I don’t miss the weather. I don’t miss the increased cost going up. I don’t miss all the pests that are out there, that hate successful people.

“So I don’t miss nothing from leaving the UK other than family.”
