A young boy has been seriously injured after being kicked in the head by a horse along a walking track in one of Sydney’s biggest parks in harrowing scenes.
Four ambulance crews including a specialist medical team raced to the scene in Centennial Park shortly after 1pm on Wednesday.
Harrowing photos show a five-year-old boy lying on a stretcher surrounded by paramedics.
He was intubated and rushed to Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick with a police escort.
It’s understood a family were walking their horse when their child was kicked in the head.
A heavy police presence cordoned off the Centennial Park Loop while the boy was treated at the scene and transported from the venue.
NSW Police has redirected inquiries about the incident to Ambulance NSW.
The boy is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.
The Centennial Parklands track is a popular spot for horse riders.
More to come.
