Miguel Maestre has announced the death of his beloved father-in-law, Gary.
The 45-year-old Spanish-born Australian chef revealed the heartbreaking news on Saturday through a moving post on Instagram.
Sharing a photo of his cherished family member, Miguel began with the words: ‘Dear pop rest in heaven.’
He reflected on the importance of love within his family, stating, ‘In our lives we question the journey and the destination but I think the most important part is the people we love and the ones that loves us back that makes us who we are.’
Miguel also expressed his commitment to caring for his children, daughter Claudia and son Morgan, as well as his wife Sascha, who is Gary’s daughter, and his mother-in-law.
‘Rest pop assured I will look after Sascha, morgy and Claudia and I’ll make sure nana is ok,’ he said.
‘Rest in peace in heaven you earned it, an amazing life filled with joy and love and plenty of friendships. We miss you already, a life well spent.’
‘Descansa en Paz abuelo gary,’ he added, which is Spanish for ‘Rest in peace Grandpa Gary.’

‘Best father in law. Thanks to all the beautiful friends and family that celebrated [yesterday] with us his beautiful life.’
In the comments, several friends and loyal fans offered their condolences to the grieving television star.
‘Love thoughts and prayers with you and the family mate xxx,’ Barry Du Bois wrote.
‘Oh Miguel, I’m very sorry,’ comedian Nikki Osborne commented.

He’s currently the host of Channel Ten’s Ready Steady Cook after previously co-hosting the lifestyle series The Living Room.
The popular chef also presented his own shows Miguel’s Feast and Miguel’s Tropical Kitchen, and Boys Weekend alongside fellow stars Gary Mehigan, Manu Feildel and Adrian Richardson.
Miguel started learning to become a chef professionally when he was 18 but still learns new skills today.
‘I learnt so many things from my mum – she started my love for food,’ he previously told Daily Mail Australia.
‘The best way to become a better cook is to find your mentors in the kitchen.
‘You can watch 100 cooking shows and learn nothing. Or you could learn from people around you and it’ll be a lesson with you for life.’
