Carnie Wilson has lost 40lbs and is noticeably thrilled as she modeled skinny jeans in new photos shared to Instagram on Tuesday.
The 55-year-old singer spoke to People about why she decided to drop the weight now.
The star said when the scale read 240lbs she knew change was in order. But she did not want to use Ozempic, which her doctor suggested she take after he informed her she had high cholesterol and was pre-diabetic.
The Wilson Phillips singer told the site that she gave up sugar after realizing she was addicted to sweets which were her ‘crutch’ to cope. The crooner added it was hard at first to say goodbye to cookies and candy, but now she is fine with it.
And she stopped eating gluten, which she says has been very helpful when slimming down.
‘I treat my body with respect now,’ she shared. Wilson hopes to reach a goal weight of 170lbs.
Also on Tuesday Carnie told Good Morning America that she is starring in a new cooking show titled Sounds Delicious With Carnie Wilson that combines recipes with celebrity guests. The series debuts April 16 on AXS TV.

‘I’m scared to say what I’m about to say,’ she began while pausing to talk about donuts, which she says is her comfort food.
She continued: ‘I have to have a surgery. 16 years ago I lost a bunch of weight and I had a breast lift and an augmentation and the implants have ruptured now.’
She says she debated sharing the news with people, but decided its such a common thing to have happen to women, she felt compelled.
‘I have to go have them taken out and face this reconstruction, which is really scary… I wasn’t sure if I was going to share it, but I am sharing it … it’s important.’
The singer reveals she might not have made the same decision today.
‘Today I wouldn’t have put them in. I’m different now; I have different priorities. This is scary, and I’m going to face this and I’m going to get over it,’ she shared.
And the singer revealed her mom is helping her get through it.
‘My mom said to me, “Carnie, this is going to be a little hurdle, a little bump, and it’ll all be in the past soon.”‘
In 2012, she turned to surgery again – this time lapband surgery – after gaining back most of the weight.

She told FOX News at the time: ‘I’m definitely up in weight. I’m looking forward to getting an exercise routine again.’
The performer had admitted that she turns to food because it’s how she deals with problems.
‘I’ve had so much stress in the last year so it’s really a struggle,’ said the star.
In the past year she has been balancing raising her two children – Lola and Luci – while also performing.
‘You try to pay the bills, you try to keep your life going and there’s pressure. It’s the daily grind of life,’ Wilson added.
She has been working since a young age.
She co-founded Wilson Phillips with her younger sister Wendy and childhood friend Chynna Phillips when they were in their teens.
