McDonald’s introduced several new offerings to its summer menu on July 30, sparking varied responses from customers across social media platforms.
The chain’s latest additions include a Jaffa Cake McFlurry, which blends vanilla soft-serve with chocolate-covered biscuit pieces and orange syrup.
For the first time, customers can also personalise their Sprite Zero beverages with green apple and mango-passionfruit syrups.
Popular items making a comeback include Spicy Chicken McNuggets with jalapeño coating, Chilli Cheese Bites, and the Milky Way McFlurry. The Fajita Chicken One wrap has also returned to menus nationwide.
The Jaffa Cake McFlurry has generated particularly polarised responses amongst diners. One customer described it as “amazing” with “little dark chocolate biscuit balls and loads of orange syrup sauce”, while another simply exclaimed “Jaffa Cake McFlurry OMG”.
However, numerous patrons found the citrus element excessive. “The orange is very overpowering, even with the tiniest bit on your spoon, that’s all you’re tasting,” one reviewer commented.
Another customer rated it an underwhelming 6/10, declaring: “I wouldn’t get it again. The orange is a bit overpowering in my opinion, and needs some chocolate sauce as well.”
However, despite this division, some found it “very nice” and “beautiful”.

‘Need to keep the spicy nuggets on permanently’
The new fruit-flavoured Sprite options have received distinctly different responses from consumers.
Green apple divided opinion, with one patron calling it “awful”, whereas another declared they were “loving the green apple x sprite”.
The mango and passionfruit variant fared considerably worse in customer reviews.
“Mango Passionfruit X Sprite is very bad,” one person stated bluntly. Another reviewer complained the tropical option “isn’t very flavourful”, while a third compared it unfavourably to “mango and passionfruit vodka and lemonade, without the fun”.
Awarding it just 5/10, the disgruntled customer criticised the sugar-free formulation as “blasphemy”.
Returning menu items have garnered overwhelmingly enthusiastic responses from customers.
The Spicy Chicken McNuggets received particular acclaim, with one reviewer awarding them 8/10 and describing them as “banging – just good as I remember, if not better”.
Multiple customers called for their permanent inclusion, with one stating: “Need to keep the spicy nuggets on permanently.”
The Chilli Cheese Bites proved equally popular, earning an exceptional 20/10 rating from one patron who insisted they “should never be removed”.
“We don’t need any other variety of cheese sides, best of the best,” they added. Another simply declared: “Chilli Cheese Bites are so good.”
