Another teenager has been arrested over the alleged stabbing murder of a 15-year-old boy in Manchester.

Mohanad Abdullaahi Goobe died of his injuries after he was stabbed on Moston Street in Moss Side on 15 September.

A 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on suspicion of murder earlier and remains in custody for questioning, Greater Manchester Police said.

Police have previously arrested two other boys, both aged 15, over the alleged murder. One was charged with murder while the other was released on bail.

The force said it had referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct because it had responded to a “potentially linked” disturbance in the nearby Whitworth Park about half an hour before the stabbing.

Police have called for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Det Insp Alex Wilkinson said: “As an investigation team, our thoughts remain with the friends and family of Mohanad as we continue to support them while investigating his tragic death.”
