Blackpool have paid tribute to a supporter who died following a medical emergency at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

The League One game between the Tangerines and Peterborough United was halted for 30 minutes during the second half after the fan was taken ill in the stands.

Emergency staff were on the scene during the break in play, but despite their best efforts, the club announced on Sunday that the supporter, named as Graham Sharman, had passed away.

A club statement read: “Blackpool Football Club is deeply saddened to report the news of the passing of supporter Graham Sharman.

“Graham suffered a medical emergency in the second half of Saturday’s match at Bloomfield Road. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Graham sadly passed away.”

It continued: “The club have been in contact with his family and will remain in close communication to offer any support that is needed.

“The thoughts and condolences of everyone go out to Graham’s family and all of those connected at this time.

“Rest in peace, Graham.”
