Emily Hewertson and Cameron Kinch were full of praise for GB News on Wednesday evening as The People’s Channel bagged yet another public-voted award.

Miriam Cates, Alex Armstrong, Charlie Peters, and Nana Akua were on hand to accept the Best News Programme gong at this year’s National Reality TV Awards, seeing off the likes of the BBC, ITV, Sky, and Channel 4 in the process.

Emily and Cameron, who also bagged an award as part of the cast of Big Brother, have both shared their expertise with GB News viewers before, appearing on the channel through the years.

And the pair were full of praise for the channel for giving a “new voice” to the narrative seen in mainstream media.

“It really is The People’s Channel,” farmer and reality TV star Cameron told GB News Entertainment Editor Alex Davies on the NRTA red carpet.

“I can’t credit GB News enough personally, because you guys were the first people who gave me a bit of a platform during the farming protest. So I deeply thank you guys, for that.

“GB News is great covering us for the farming protests and, I’ll be honest, one of the better media platforms. It’s a great news channel, and I love going on there, I really do.”

Emily echoed: “It’s great to see that GB News is constantly beating all the other ratings on all the other news channels, and I think there’s a real reason for that.

“We’ve got the same agendas being told to us, but it’s great to have some real new narratives and voices.

“And I feel like GB News has mastered what the people actually think. And that’s why it continues to be a success. Long may that continue!”

The pair also bear no bones in expressing their pride in all things Great Britain, a trend that sadly seems to be diminishing among others in Gen-Z.

“I think a lot of things make me proud to be British, but I think mostly our vast traditional British values and of course, long live the king!” Emily hailed.

Cameron weighed in: “There are so many things! Just being British, being polite, being upstanding in the world.

“We are a bastion of decency when other countries aren’t. We’re a bastion of standing up for what’s right and proper.

“I think we really are the best country in the world.”

The Big Brother duo couldn’t leave without imparting some words of wisdom – or warning – to new prime minister, Andy Burnham, given their rather vocal opposition to the Labour Party.

“We’ve got a new prime minister, not quite government, but let’s see what Mr Burnham does,” Cameron began.

“I think in agriculture, we’re waiting to see what happens in the budget. I don’t know if it will happen, but please, Andy, scrap the family farm tax.

“It won’t cost you a lot. Just do it. Don’t listen to any of ‘Mad Ed’s’ policies. Don’t have any fertiliser taxes or any of that.

“You’ve shoved him [Ed Miliband] in the Foreign Office, you’ve sent him to China or wherever, keep him there.

“Help the farmers out a bit more, fund environmental schemes more, and we will help you grow the economy brilliantly.”

Meanwhile, as she discussed what life has been like since leaving the Big Brother house, Emily commented: “It’s opened the door to a lot of opportunities.

“Obviously, a regular on GB News now, which is great, the best TV channel in Britain, I must say, but it’s nice to get a bit of mix between things like this and then getting serious on politics…

“And getting rid of this wretched Labour government. And that includes Andy Burnham too!”
