Beverley Callard has revealed that paramedics were summoned to the set of RTE soap Fair City after she blacked out while filming on Thursday.
The 69-year-old, who portrayed Rovers Return landlady Liz McDonald on Coronation Street for nearly three decades, shared the alarming news with followers on Instagram on Thursday evening.
Ms Callard revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and she has since relocated to Ireland to take on the role of Lily Patterson in the long-running Irish soap.
The former I’m A Celebrity contestant, who has recently finished a course of radiotherapy, lost consciousness for approximately 10 minutes during a day of shooting, prompting an ambulance to be called as part of on-set protocol.

Speaking on Instagram, Ms Callard described how the day had been going well before the incident occurred.
“I’ve been at work this week, filming the most amazing scenes. Really good, great scripts, working with people who are so good, but good fun as well,” she said.
The actress continued: “I was all ready to start a new scene with Emily, who plays my daughter, and we just sat there getting ready, about to run lines, and I lost consciousness for a few minutes, maybe 10 minutes, which was very odd.”
Ms Callard added that she had felt “boiling hot” during the episode.

PA“Because of protocol, they had to check me out and everything. An ambulance came,” she said.
“I desperately didn’t want to go to hospital.”
Ms Callard said she recovered and was allowed to return home after being checked over by the ambulance crew, on the condition that she rested.
“I recovered and felt fine again, but I can’t explain what it was.
“I was checked out by the ambulance men and everything, and they were happy to let me come home as long as I rested,” she said.
Despite feeling “perfectly normal” once back at home, she noted that her blood pressure had been extremely elevated during the episode.
The actress acknowledged that she had not been feeling well since completing her radiotherapy treatment.
Ms Callard also revealed she is due back at hospital next week and is still waiting for results from biopsies taken from her stomach.
“I’m awaiting the results of these other tests and the biopsies they’ve taken from my stomach,” she said.
The former Two Pints of Lager star was flooded with messages of concern from her followers.
“Oh no, so sorry, I hope you get better soon,” one person wrote, as another said they are “sending a big hug” to the star.
A third penned: “You are a beautiful, strong lady & your dogs absolutely love you by your side.”

Ms Callard herself appealed to her audience for insight into what might have caused the episode.
