Strictly Come Dancing professional Alexis Warr has confirmed her marriage to Jake Burton has ended after almost eight years together.
The 26-year-old American dancer revealed the news through an Instagram statement on Wednesday, apologising to followers for her recent absence from social media.
“After much consideration and with the greatest respect for each other, Jake and I have made the decision to separate,” she wrote.
Ms Warr emphasised the split was amicable, adding: “Whilst this hasn’t been an easy decision, it has been reached with a huge amount of love and we’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders.”

The dancer requested privacy as the former couple navigate what she described as a significant life change, thanking supporters for their understanding.
The pair first met as childhood sweethearts and exchanged vows on November 15, 2018, when both were still teenagers.
Mr Burton, who works as a dentist, published an identical statement on his own Instagram account, confirming the separation was a joint decision.
Throughout their marriage, the couple had largely kept their relationship out of the public eye, though Ms Warr occasionally shared glimpses of their life together on social media.

Despite the separation, the couple had publicly celebrated their bond just months ago.
In November, Ms Warr marked their seventh wedding anniversary with a heartfelt tribute, describing Mr Burton as “the absolute love of my life” and calling their years together “an absolute privilege.”
She wrote at the time: “I’m so incredibly lucky and grateful to be loved by you. Can’t wait to see what more memories we unlock this year.”

Weeks before that celebration, Ms Warr had proudly announced her husband’s success in passing his dental school board examinations.
“Couldn’t be more grateful for his heart, his drive, and the way he supports and loves me through it all,” she posted, describing herself as a “proud wifey.”
Mr Burton responded warmly, commenting: “Couldn’t do it without you. love you!”
Fans had praised them as a “power couple” following the exchange.
Ms Warr first rose to prominence in 2022 when she became the inaugural Latin and ballroom dancer to claim victory on So You Think You Can Dance during its 17th series.
She dedicated that triumph to her mother, who had been battling brain cancer before experiencing what Ms Warr described as a “miraculous recovery.”
“This journey has been a love letter to my mother, and I would love to seal that with a win,” she said at the time.
Following her American success, she performed on America’s Got Talent and joined the resident dance troupe on Dancing With The Stars in 2024.
The dancer also appeared in JoJo Siwa’s music video for Karma that same year.
Ms Warr made her Strictly debut in 2025 alongside fellow newcomer Julian Caillon, partnering with TikTok personality and podcast host George Clarke to reach the final as joint runners-up.
