NatWest is preparing to close dozens of bank branches from next month as part of its wider restructuring plans.
These closures will begin from September 2025 and will be implemented over multiple weeks until the middle of October.
Bank branch closures have become the norm in Britain in recent years with consumers opting to use online banking services instead of physical locations.
Other high street financial institutions include Barclays, Santander and Lloyds Bank have shut down locations in recent months.

PA | High streets have been hit by a wave of bank branch closures since the pandemic, on top of banks shutting down
On the closures a NatWest spokesperson said: “We have made the difficult decision to close these branches due to the changing ways our customers choose to bank”.
“We are committed to supporting those impacted and ensuring alternative access to cash and banking services remain available, including through Post Office branches.”
In response to the wave of bank branch closures, the Government has assisted in the rollout of Banking Hubs to help areas impacted by locations being shut down.
These are areas in communities, which see multiple banks operate from the site on different days of the week to ensure customers have access to physical services.
Jenny Ross, Which? Money Editor, said: “Access to cash remains hugely important for a significant minority who use it to pay for everyday essentials and keep track of their spending.
“The raft of branch closures that have happened over recent years have had devastating consequences for lots of communities, often forcing people to travel great distances to visit a branch.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
GETTY | Bank branch closures are continuing at an ‘alarming rate’, according to Which?
“Schemes introduced by the banking industry to protect these services, such as banking hubs, are a good start in plugging gaps left by closing physical branches, but they must be rolled out much more quickly if consumers are to feel their benefits.”
