Atomic Kitten star Natasha Hamilton has responded defiantly to online critics who targeted her appearance with cruel remarks.

The 43-year-old pop singer took to TikTok on Friday, posting a selfie in which she raised her middle finger at her detractors.

“To all those hating & commenting on my face,” she wrote alongside the image.

Ms Hamilton made clear the context behind any changes to her appearance by adding pointed hashtags: “#autoimmunedisease #stopjudging #sortyourownface.”

The performer, who found fame with the girlband in 1999, has been living with Hashimoto’s disease for several years.

The autoimmune condition attacks the thyroid gland, leading to hypothyroidism, which can cause fatigue, sensitivity to cold, dry skin, weight gain and depression.

In a previous interview with The Mirror, Ms Hamilton revealed that approximately a year ago she felt as though she was “falling apart and had lost all confidence in myself” whilst dealing with perimenopause alongside her thyroid condition.

The singer credited Hormone Replacement Therapy with helping her regain her health and wellbeing.

She described her most difficult period as occurring half a year after welcoming her daughter Kitty, who is now two years old.

During that time, Ms Hamilton was filming a music video whilst simultaneously managing the chaos of her thyroid disorder and perimenopausal symptoms.

“I started to feel insecure and embarrassed,” she admitted, explaining how the combination of health challenges had taken a significant toll on her mental state.

During the early months following Kitty’s arrival, Ms Hamilton first noticed that something fundamental had shifted within her body.

She described waking each morning in considerable pain and struggling to recognise herself.

This combination of physical discomfort and mental fog left Hamilton feeling deeply vulnerable at a time when she was caring for a newborn.

The experience of battling both thyroid dysfunction and perimenopause simultaneously whilst trying to maintain her career proved overwhelming for the mother-of-four.

Ms Hamilton has also faced a separate health battle after being diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a form of non-melanoma skin cancer, in 2024.

She spoke publicly about her cancer journey for the first time during an emotional appearance on Good Morning Britain in June 2025.

The singer explained that she initially mistook the warning sign for an insect bite whilst on holiday, when her baby was just five months old.

“I asked my hub to have look and he went, ‘Oh that’s not a bite,’ he took a picture, I looked at it and I went I think I know what that is,” she recalled.

Although now cancer-free, Hamilton must remain vigilant about her skin health indefinitely.

“This is probably something I am going to have to keep an eye for the rest of my life,” she said.
