Actress Anita Dobson has confirmed that her husband, Queen guitarist Sir Brian May, is “back to his old self” following a stroke last year.
The 75-year-old shared the positive health update months after the legendary musician’s frightening health scare.
The update came on Thursday, when Good Morning Britain presenters Ed Balls and Charlotte Hawkins enquired about the 77-year-old’s condition, with Dobson responding warmly.
“Thank you both for asking. He’s very well now. Back to his old self,” she told the hosts.

The beloved rock legend had suffered what doctors described as a “minor stroke” in August 2024.
Sir Brian revealed the health scare in an Instagram video posted in early September 2024, explaining the frightening moment when he suddenly lost control of one arm.
“All of a sudden, out of the blue, I didn’t have any control over this arm, so it was a little scary,” the Queen guitarist said in his announcement.
The rock icon was rushed to Frimley Hospital with “blue lights flashing”, receiving what he described as “the most fantastic care”.
Despite the concerning episode, Sir Brian reassured fans that he could still play guitar following what he called his “little health hiccup”.
The musician specifically asked well-wishers not to “clutter up” his inbox with sympathy messages.
Following his stroke, Sir Brian was advised to limit certain activities during his recovery period.
The legendary musician was “grounded” after being told not to drive, fly or engage in any activity that would elevate his heart rate too high.
Despite these restrictions, May appears to have made a remarkable recovery in recent months.
The musician has been posting updates on social media showing him venturing out on trips.
This positive progress culminated in Dobson’s reassuring update on Good Morning Britain that the Queen guitarist is now “very well” and has returned to his normal self.
Dobson’s appearance on the ITV show also touched on her recent return to EastEnders for the soap’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

The actress, who played Queen Vic landlady Angie Watts, appeared as a hallucination when her adopted daughter Sharon Watts was injured in a pub explosion.
Dobson revealed she was smuggled onto set wearing “an anorak, with a hood and dark glasses” to keep her comeback a surprise.
Last year’s health challenge wasn’t May’s first one in recent years.
The Queen guitarist previously suffered a heart attack in May 2020, requiring surgery while already recovering from a gardening injury.
