Followers of the farming television personality Amanda Owen have expressed astonishment after she posted photographs on Instagram of her 13-year-old son Sydney.

The images showcased a dramatic transformation in the youngster’s appearance, prompting numerous surprised reactions from viewers familiar with the family through their television appearances.

Sid has accompanied his mother and his eight siblings throughout their time in Channel 5’s Our Yorkshire Farm. He also featured in older brother Reuben’s spin-off show, Life in the Dales.

Most recently, he’s joined the Yorkshire Shepherdess and his dad, Clive, as they renovate a derelict cottage in the Channel 4 series, Our Farm Next Door.

But given the time it’s been since he last appeared on screens, the new social media update generated immediate responses from fans who struggled to recognise the teenager.

“That’s never little Sid?” one follower commented, whilst another remarked on their struggle to recognise the teen: “Is this Sid?!!”

Elsewhere, several other commenters noted Sydney’s increasing resemblance to his older brothers.

“Wow Sidney is getting more and more like Miles and Reuben,” observed one fan, highlighting the family similarities that have become more pronounced as the youngster has matured.

The difficulty in recognising Sid went further amongst viewers as several even began debating whether it was indeed him in the pictures alongside the mum-of-nine.

One follower questioned: “I think that is Miles myself as I can’t see Sydney with Long hair.”

But despite the uncertainty, many expressed affection for the young Owen. “Aww Sid is so grown up, always had a soft spot for Sid,” wrote one supporter.

Another fan revealed the impact of the family’s television presence, stating: “Lovely young man. My daughter loved his name so much that we now have a Sidney!”

The photographs included a selfie of Ms Owen with Sydney, alongside additional images showing her other children engaged in agricultural tasks at Ravenseat Farm.

The glimpses into the family’s daily life continue to captivate audiences who have followed the Owens’ journey through various television programmes.

The family’s on-screen journey began with their Channel 5 programme in 2018, which gained substantial popularity amongst British audiences.

Following Amanda and Clive’s separation in 2022, the original series concluded, though the family maintained their television presence through the new Channel 4 series, Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids.

The Yorkshire Shepherdess regularly shares family updates through social media platforms, offering fans glimpses into their agricultural lifestyle.

In a recent October post, she addressed the challenges facing the family at their Yorkshire farm, writing: “Life is busy. Obstacles thrown into your path, the road is never smooth.

“We just tackle everything head on (or a*** first in the case of sheep at the moment). Always do our best and turn our hand to anything. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

The farming matriarch continues to reside and operate Ravenseat Farm alongside her former spouse Clive and their nine offspring.

Despite their marital split, the pair maintain a working partnership in managing the agricultural enterprise and raising their children.
