Tommy Fury revealed his alcohol dependence was the cause of his split from Molly-Mae Hague in an emotional interview this week.
The professional boxer, 25, said the trauma of his hand surgery led to a downward spiral and felt he couldn’t be the right partner to his fiancée.
Tommy explained how his problems started when he underwent reconstructive surgery in January 2024, after snapping all the ligaments in his hand in 2019.
He confessed his partying and drinking on rowdy nights out took a toll on his relationship, which ultimately led to their break-up.
In the interview with Men’s Health, which was released in timely fashion ahead of ex Molly-Mae’s Prime Video documentary, Tommy also insisted he has never cheated – calling rumours about other women ‘complete and utter b***ocks’.
Admitting he would go out most nights and drink to ‘get black-out drunk’, he said he replaced his intense training camp schedule by ‘smashing Guinness left and centre and then later on in the night shots would come out’.
Here we take a look at all the signs Tommy’s drinking had got out of control – from a wild night out with Chris Brown to Molly-Mae telling fans she had been ‘solo parenting’ just days before their split…

Before their split in August 2024, fans first speculated a ‘rocky’ patch between Molly-Mae and Tommy during his wild nights out in Dubai with Chris Brown in 2023.
During the trip, Tommy’s behaviour raised eyebrows among fans after we was spotted partying with girls alongside the hitmaker.
The boxer sparked concern between his and Molly-Mae’s fans after he was spotted in a clip being targeted by an attractive brunette – who playfully grabbed his face as he dances directly behind her.
Molly-Mae was reportedly left ‘mortified’ by his behaviour and seemingly suggested back in February 2024 that Tommy’s secret hand injury is what ’caused so many problems’ within their family.
In the TikTok clip, the girl grabbed his face and squeezed his cheeks before Tommy turned his head away.

He then turned back to look at the female as she carried on dancing amongst a crowd of other revellers in the club.
The behaviour didn’t impress Molly, with a source telling The Sun: ‘Molly has made no secret of the fact she doesn’t like it when Tommy parties too hard.
‘This weekend has ended up being a real embarrassment to her. She was mortified when she kept getting tagged in videos while she was just trying to enjoy a festive weekend with Bambi.’
The insider concluded: ‘She has told Tommy it really has to stop now he’s a dad and has told him to ditch some of his pals, who she thinks are a bad influence.’

I just know that isn’t who he wants to be, he doesn’t want this.’

He said: Being a father, I didn’t care how bad I felt in the morning or how rough I was, I’d be up at quarter past seven, waking the baby up, giving her a breakfast, making her breakfast, taking her to soft play, taking her to swimming, taking her to baby ballet…
‘I was big on keeping her routine the same. That’s why nobody really clocked on, because during the day the normality was still there.
Tommy admits to alcohol problem – January 2025
Explaining how a large part of his identity was snatched away from him when he could no longer train, Tommy said his diet and fitness were the first things he let slip
Tommy admitted he became dependent on alcohol following a boxing injury and admitted his mental health was ‘in the pan’.
‘The reason why me and Molly broke up was because I got addicted to alcohol and I couldn’t be the partner that I wanted to be anymore,’ he confessed.
‘It kills me to say it, [but] it’s true, I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, loved to drink, and it is what it is. People go through different things in life and we all have our crosses to bear. I’ve got mine to bear.’
He stated that his ‘mental health was in the pan’ during his recovery from surgery, which came off the back of ‘the best year I’ve ever had’ in 2023 which saw both his career and life with Molly flourish.
Explaining how a large part of his identity was snatched away from him when he could no longer train, Tommy said his diet and fitness were the first things he let slip before he turned to alcohol.
‘I’ve only lived for training and my family, and that was all snatched away from me. So what I did for fun is I started to drink quite a lot. I found that’s what made me feel better,’ he said, adding: ‘I wanted the endorphins that I’d get when I’d finish a good session, when I’d finish sparring, when I’d finish fighting.’
‘Cheating was never a thing,’ Tommy insisted. ‘You can ask Molly this yourself. It was the drink, and the drink is not a good thing. You need to get a grip of it.
‘If you’re in the same spot as me, where you just think that it’s going to cure all your problems, it doesn’t. You wake up even worse and you want to drink more to try and feel happy again. That’s the cycle of it.’
