The bitter rift between Adam Peaty and his estranged relatives deepened on Monday when a family member responded furiously to the swimmer’s emotional Commonwealth Games interviews.
A source close to the Peaty family told the Daily Mail: “Adam is playing the blame game now. The ‘woe is me’ card.”
The relative delivered a pointed rebuke, saying: “Just take accountability for your own actions for once, Adam, instead of blaming us.
“The hurt you feel over a medal does not compare to the hurt your mother felt when she said she did not want to be on this planet any more.”

They urged the three-time Olympic champion to “look closer to home and in the mirror” rather than attributing his bronze medal finish to the family fallout.
“Don’t blame your family for your bronze,” the source added.
“We love you Adam, that’s all we have done, and are proud of what you have achieved but we don’t like who you have become. You became famous. You met Holly and you changed.”
The origins of the estrangement stretch back to 2024, when Adam and Holly excluded wider members of the Peaty family from both their engagement celebration and their wedding.

The couple married at Bath Abbey on December 27 2025, with Mr Peaty’s sister Bethany the sole representative from his side of the family.
His parents Caroline and Mark, along with his brothers, were conspicuously absent from the ceremony.
Caroline, who devoted years to driving her son to early-morning training sessions throughout his youth, was also left off the guest list for Holly’s hen party at Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds — an event attended by Holly’s mother Tana and family friend Victoria Beckham.
The family source also accused Mr Peaty of preventing his mother from seeing her grandson from his previous relationship “out of spite” and barring her from watching him wed.

Caroline Peaty subsequently took to Instagram to break her silence on the escalating row.
Alongside a black-and-white image of Cillian Murphy from Peaky Blinders bearing a quote about forgiveness, she insisted the family continues to back her son from a distance.
“He’s our son who we love, whom we supported to reach his aspirations,” she wrote.
“Our love, our time, our sacrifices were given freely with no expectation of financial reward just genuinely given with the love as any mother and father would do for their child.”

She acknowledged having previously spoken to a newspaper about Mr Peaty but maintained she had not done so since.
Caroline concluded by saying the family’s resilience had enabled them to “move past the nastiness, the lies that have been told about us.”
The Glasgow Commonwealth Games marked the first occasion Adam’s parents were not poolside to support him at a major championship, with the family reportedly excluded from attending.
Instead, his pregnant wife Holly Ramsay, 26, cheered him on at the Tollcross International Centre.
Mr Peaty, now competing under the surname Ramsay-Peaty, had won gold at each of his three previous Commonwealth Games but finished third in the 100m breaststroke behind Australia’s Sam Williamson and Jersey’s 18-year-old Filip Nowacki.
His post-race remarks also triggered a wave of criticism on social media, with many accusing him of turning his back on the family that helped build his career.
The 31-year-old was preparing to defend his 50m breaststroke title on Monday evening, before heading to the European Aquatics Championships in Paris from August 10 to 16.
