A critical incident has been declared in Swansea after a car was “damaged by gunfire” as armed police rushed to the scene.
Officers were called to the A48 in Morriston after reports of an ongoing incident.
South Wales Police confirmed a 41-year-old man from Llansamlet, Swansea, had been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
Police also arrested a 16-year-old boy from Llansamlet on suspicion of affray.
Residents have been told to avoid the area and events, including a local firework display, have been cancelled.
South Wales Police said the incident was ongoing, with road closures in place.
Chief Superintendent Stephen Jones said: “A policing presence will be visible in the area whilst this investigation is ongoing.”
“It is important that people avoid the area so we can effectively deal with this incident and return the area to normality.”
He said they were aware of footage circulating online and asked anyone with relevant video or information to get in touch.
Officers also urged people not to share rumours about the incident and only pass on information from official sources.
The local football club, Morriston Town AFC, cancelled a planned firework display.
A spokesman from the club said: “Unfortunately, the police have advised that, due to an ongoing issue, the event has to be cancelled. With immediate effect.”
