Ann Widdecombe’s house has gone up for sale just four months after the former MP’s brutal murder.

The five-bedroom Dartmoor property has been listed for £900,000.

Knight Frank is handling the listing for the detached property, which sits on the moor fringe near Haytor Vale in Devon.

The asking price is a 50 per cent markup on the £600,000 Ms Widdecombe paid when she purchased the chalet bungalow in 2008.

The late Reform Justice spokeswoman renamed the residence “Widdecombe’s Rest” when she moved in, though it is now being marketed under its original name, Thurleco.

The property is described by agents as a “spacious, south- facing and well-presented chalet bungalow”, which is “surrounded by its gardens offering peace and privacy”.

They add that the bungalow boasts “glorious long-distance views over the surrounding countryside” with a driveway surrounding the house.

Ms Widdecombe’s former home also features an “ornamental pond to the front and, to the rear, a heated swimming pool with stone paved surrounds”.

The property also has a wooden stable building at the top of its gardens.

On July 20 this year, 28-year-old Joshua Kerry from Rotherham was charged with Ms Widdecombe’s murder.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court heard that she had been hit over the head 21 times with a hammer after Kerry entered her home.

Following an investigation overseen by Counter Terrorism Police and Devon and Cornwall Police, Kerry was also charged by the Crown Prosecution Service with one count of preparation of terrorist acts.

The charge relates to activity alleged to have taken place between May 31 2024 and July 8 this year, counter-terrorism police confirmed.

Head of counter-terrorism policing, Vicki Evans, said at the time of the charge: “We have been running a hugely intensive and complex investigation for some time.

“The charge announced is a result of the tireless work of investigators across the counter-terrorism policing network.

“This investigation has been led by a dedicated team of detectives, analysts, and forensic experts, working on multiple lines of enquiry, which has resulted in this very serious charge.”

Kerry appeared at the Central Criminal Court on October 9 for a case management hearing.

There will be a further hearing on November 20 with a provisional trial date set for June 8 next year.

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said Ms Widdecombe’s murder raised “serious questions” about the security of MPs.

She wrote in a post on X: “Let no one make any mistake: an attack on anyone in politics is an attack on us all.

“This case raises serious questions about the security of those in public life. We must use this as an opportunity to reset. Once parliament returns, I will update on our work to strengthen protections for those who choose to serve.”
