Amazon has shaken up its Netflix-for-books subscription with a new name, more titles, and additional audio content.
Kindle Unlimited is now Kindle+, following in the footsteps of a swathe of subscription services that use a “plus” to denote paid-for extras, including Disney+, Paramount+, Channel 4+, ESPN+, NFL+, and MGM+, to name just a few.
This is the second time Amazon has used this naming convention for one of its services, following the launch of Alexa+, its smarter, more capable iteration of its chatty voice assistant. Amazon says your reading history, bookmarks, notes, and any saved titles on your Kindle Unlimited account will all carry over to Kindle+.
At £9.49 per month, Kindle+ is one of the most expensive monthly subscriptions that Amazon offers.
For comparison, its popular Amazon Prime membership costs £8.99 per month, despite offering unlimited next-day delivery on thousands of items, access to its Prime Video streamer, Kindle books to download and read, music streaming via Amazon Music, unlimited photo backup to the cloud, and much more.
