The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s son, James, Earl of Wessex, is beginning his university induction at the Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, today.
The royal, 18, moved into campus accommodation on Saturday ahead of the week-long introductory programme, which runs until September 25.
He has enrolled on a Rural Land & Property Management degree at the institution, which sits in the heart of the Cotswolds.
Fellow first-year students will join him for the induction activities, with the formal start of lectures scheduled for the following Monday.

The RAU confirmed that new arrivals took up residence on September 20.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that James opted to proceed directly to university following his A-levels, forgoing the gap year taken by many of his peers.
“Having achieved the grades he needed, The Earl of Wessex will be going to the Royal Agricultural University to study Rural Land & Property Management. He will head straight there without taking a year out,” the Palace stated.
His undergraduate programme spans three years and will concentrate on estate management, rural business, and consultancy, areas closely aligned with the management of Britain’s country estates and agricultural enterprises.

PATeaching is set to commence on September 28, giving students a full week to settle into their new surroundings before academic work begins in earnest.
The RAU follows a semester-based structure for delivering its courses.
Students are taught and assessed across two semesters, with examination periods falling towards the close of each one.
“Programmes are taught across two semesters,” the university explains.

James’s first term will run through to December, marking a busy initial stretch of undergraduate life. He has traded the family residence of Bagshot Park in Surrey for life in the Cotswolds market town.
His elder sister, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, completed her own university chapter earlier this summer, graduating from the University of St Andrews with an English degree.
