Princess Eugenie has shared new pictures of Adelaide Brooksbank, her new baby, on Instagram.

Adelaide was born on August 3, 2026 in Lisbon, becoming the first British royal in the direct line of succession to be born in Portugal.

Eugenie, 36, took to Instagram on Bank Holiday Monday to share three new pictures of little Adelaide.

One photograph, featuring the Princess of York with her hair tied back in a bun while holding Adelaide in a garden, was captioned: “4 weeks of you!!”

Another showed Eugenie’s two oldest children, August Brooksbank, five, and Ernest Brooksbank, three, kissing their new baby sister, who was being held in the arms of Jack Brooksbank, their father.

The caption read: “Happy days with my babies..”

A third and final photograph saw the three Brooksbank children lying on a mattress, with August and Ernest wearing matching dolphin T-shirts and shorts.

On August 17, Princess Eugenie explained the meaning behind her daughter’s name.

She said: “2 weeks ago today we welcomed our girl to the world. And since then we’ve had the most special, cosy and love-filled time.

“We are so happy to share Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.

“Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts.

“Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home.”

She added: “Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers.”

GB News understands that the name Adelaide was partly inspired by King William IV’s wife, Queen Adelaide, who lived from 1792 to 1849.

In addition, the name was inspired by Maria Adelaide de Bragança, a Portuguese royal who died in 2012 at the age of 100.

On her wedding day in 2018, Princess Eugenie wore two diamond wheat-ear brooches as hair slides at the evening reception, commissioned by William IV for Queen Adelaide.

Adelaide’s first middle name, Elizabeth, is in honour of Princess Eugenie’s late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Her second name, Annina, is understood to be inspired by a personal connection.
