Two popular Chinese car brands have secured a major milestone, just two years after launching in the UK, as drivers increasingly opt for new brands.

Sister brands Omoda and Jaecoo have surpassed a combined 100,000 sales in the UK, with an impressive market share of almost 5.7 per cent.

The milestone comes just two years after launching in the UK, with Omoda entering the market in August 2024, followed by Jaecoo in January 2025.

As with other Chinese brands, both Omoda and Jaecoo have established a nationwide retail presence of almost 150 locations.

The two brands are under the Chery umbrella, alongside Chery as a standalone brand, and Lepas, which is set to begin customer deliveries of its first model next month.

Success for the two manufacturers has come primarily through the Omoda 5 and Jaecoo 7, which have quickly captured the attention of prospective car buyers.

The Jaecoo 7, which has been likened to a Range Rover, has been one of the UK’s top 10 best-selling cars since September last year.

Since sales began in February 2025, more than 53,000 Jaecoo 7 models have been registered, with the brand noting that it has been equally popular among private and fleet buyers.

The Omoda 5 was the first vehicle launched in the UK from the dual-brand and has seen success across its petrol, Super Hybrid System pure hybrid and electric variants.

Commenting on the success of the brand, Gary Lan, CEO of Omoda&Jaecoo UK, noted that it had “never shied away” from the key factors behind being successful in the UK.

He noted that the brand had invested heavily in its people, its retailer network and the ownership experience “from day one”.

Mr Lan added: “When Omoda launched, followed closely by Jaecoo, our ambition was to create two brands capable of delivering exceptional value, innovative technology and outstanding customer experiences.

“Above all, we owe this milestone to our 100,000 owners and drivers, as without them, none of this would be possible.”

At present, drivers can get their hands on the Omoda 5, Omoda 7, and flagship Omoda 9, as well as the Jaecoo 5, Jaecoo 7 and the recently launched Jaecoo 8.

The Jaecoo 8 has a range of more than 700 miles from its Super Hybrid System, a 0-62mph acceleration time of 5.8 seconds and the option of an Executive six-seater or Luxury seven-seater.

Omoda&Jaecoo plans to unveil new models in the near future, adding that the business remains “firmly focused on building a long-term presence in the UK market”.

Parent company Chery International recently became the first Chinese automotive group to exceed 20 million global vehicle sales, with Jaecoo and Omoda forming part of that success.

The UK branch plans to host a customer celebration day next month to celebrate the 100,000 sales benchmark.

Mr Lan continued, saying: “The future is looking very bright for us here in the UK.

“The progress made over the past two years has created a strong foundation for sustained growth, and we remain focused on continuing to invest in building a business designed around the needs of British customers. That commitment remains unchanged.”
