Lancashire have appointed Richard Kenyon as their new chief executive after he decided to resign from the same role at Nottinghamshire.
He will replace the outgoing Daniel Gidney, who is set to retire at the end of the year following 14 years at Old Trafford.
Kenyon became CEO at Notts in October but is leaving the current county champions after less than a year to move closer to his family home at Southport.
He previously spent a decade at Everton FC, holding roles as chief commercial and communications officer, as well as chief executive of Everton in the community – the club’s charitable organisation – and was involved in the club’s move from Goodison Park to Bramley Moore Dock.

“My connection with Lancashire Cricket dates back to the 1980s. I fondly remember watching the Red Rose take on West Indies at Southport and Birkdale Cricket Club in 1984, and I have loved visiting Old Trafford with family and friends for Lancashire games and Test matches over the last 40 years.”
Lancashire chair Dame Sarah Storey added. “We undertook an extensive and thorough search process to identify the right person to lead the club, and Richard emerged as the outstanding candidate from an exceptionally strong field.”

Michael Temple, Nottinghamshire’s commercial director, will replace Kenyon as interim chief executive at Trent Bridge..
Notts chairman Andy Hunt said: “Richard’s decision to leave is grounded in his ties to his home patch and while I’m disappointed that he is leaving so early in his tenure, I do understand the demands of the role and the lure of working closer to home”.
Lancashire are currently next to bottom of Division Two of the County Championship following their relegation from the top tier in 2024.
They are 36 points off the top two spots which gain promotion to Division One, but are in a strong position in the One-Day Cup, holding third place in their group ahead of Tuesday’s final game against Somerset – a top-four finish would see them reach the quarter-finals.
