Little has changed with the microwave since the first commercial product launched in 1955. But Ninja wants to reinvent the 71-year-old formula with its first microwave — and it’s not your typical kitchen appliance.
Called Ninja Crispi Microwave, it combines the internals of a typical household microwave with the air-frying technology Ninja is best known for. If you’re short on space in your kitchen, this single countertop unit could be an ideal way to get the best of both worlds.
The clever bit? Ninja’s patented FusionCrisp Technology promises crispy, oven-quality results without the lengthy wait. Michaela Dubeau, VP of Product Development at Ninja, said: “The microwave has long been the go-to for quick meals, and it’s always made the same tradeoff: fast or good, never both. We decided to rethink it completely.
“The Ninja Crispi Microwave combines microwave speed with the power of an air fryer, so you get the texture you actually want, not just the speed you’re used to.”

It also boasts 14-in-1 cooking modes — including eight microwave presets and five air fryer presets to defrost, crisp, air bake, and more.
You can cover everything from popcorn and potatoes to soup, frozen vegetables, and even softened butter.
Using FusionCrisp technology, the microwave does its job first, heating your food quickly. Then, without you lifting a finger, the air frying kicks in automatically. The appliance uses superheated cyclonic air that reaches temperatures up to 450°F (that’s about 230°C).
This circulating hot air is what gives your food that lovely crispy finish.
Ninja says you can also take something straight from the freezer to perfectly crispy in just 10 minutes. With 1700 watts of power, there’s no need to wait for preheating like you would with a regular oven.
The cooking basket itself is made of non-toxic glass free of PFAS and PTFE, which is reassuring if you’ve been worried about coatings in your cookware. It holds 5.5 quarts (roughly 5.2 litres) – big enough for an 8lb chicken or four slices of pizza.

Unlike traditional microwaves with rotating plates, this one has a flatbed design. That gives you about 40% more usable space compared to a standard turntable microwave, making it easier to fit multiple containers or bowls inside.
The Ninja Crispi Microwave is available now in the US for $449 (roughly £330). It’s expected to reach British shores in the next few months. Ninja typically charges at least £100 for its air fryers.
