Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed a major new partnership that will give car owners access to more than one million EV chargers around Europe.

Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar owners will be able to use their InControl Remote app or any future JLR apps to locate over one million public electric vehicle chargers across the continent.

The Digital Charging Solutions’ platform allows plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle drivers to filter for charger availability and charging speed.

Motorists will be able to look at available chargers across 29 European countries, while also being able to pay for charging on a monthly basis.

The new features will work for motorists when buying a new or used approved hybrid or electric vehicle, as they will be given a free branded charging card.

Existing owners of any eligible vehicles can order a charging card from their retailer or their app, giving them access to use 1.1 million EV chargers across Europe.

More than 75,000 public chargers will be available to drivers in the UK, from rural areas like Orkney and Land’s End, to metropolitan hotspots.

Mark Camilleri, Director of Charging and Connected Services at JLR, said: “Quality, choice and convenience are critical to the luxury experience we are creating for our electric vehicle clients.

“Through this new partnership, we are giving clients the power to seamlessly access one of Europe’s most comprehensive charging networks.”

Regardless of where JLR customers are across the continent, they will likely be close to an eligible electric vehicle charger.

Jaguar Land Rover noted that there are 16,000 EV chargers around Stuttgart in Germany, while the popular holiday destination of Rhodes in Greece has more than 200.

Even remote locations, including the East Tyrol region in the Austrian Alps and Tromsoya in Norway, have availability.

Jaguar Land Rover’s upcoming next-generation of electric vehicles will also benefit from the DCS network of European chargers.

This will begin with the launch of Range Rover Electric later this year, followed by the Range Rover Sport Electric.

The iconic British manufacturer confirmed that it would reveal further details on its first electric model built on its EMA platform at Halewood in the coming months.

Further product launches include the Jaguar Type 01 electric car, as well as new additions to the Range Rover and Defender brands.

Jaguar will be the sole electric brand, while Range Rover, Defender and Discovery brands will offer the choice of mild hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and electric cars.

Petr Füzék, Commercial Director of Digital Charging Solutions, said: “Luxury clients expect quality and reliability in every aspect of vehicle ownership, and public charging is no exception.

“At DCS, we’re proud to support JLR as they expand their public charging service, ensuring a seamless electric journey for clients.”
