It is widely believed that the ground movement is linked to a former mine, but this has not been confirmed.

The MRA plans to monitor the site for a further six months after the ground has stabilised.

Residents will not be allowed to return to their homes before the probe is concluded.

Some families have previously told Scotland News that they expect to be out of their homes for several more months.

And some fear a number of the properties will have to be demolished.

Residents are currently in short-term accommodation – some in housing association properties, some in private rentals including Airbnbs, others are in alternative temporary accommodation including student residences in Stirling.
