Ruby Bhogal, the 36-year-old Great British Bake Off finalist, has revealed she is expecting her first child with husband James Stewart, seven months after experiencing a devastating missed miscarriage.
The television personality shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting images of her BBC presenter husband tenderly holding her growing bump.
In her announcement, Ms Bhogal described the past 12 months as an extraordinary journey, writing: “We finally found the rainbow we’ve been hoping for.”
The baker expressed profound gratitude for her pregnancy, stating she feels “so lucky, grateful and blessed for the privilege” whilst acknowledging she endured three months of severe nausea.
Baby Stewart is expected to arrive in December 2026, marking a new chapter for the couple following their turbulent first year of marriage.
The road to this pregnancy announcement was marked by an extraordinary series of setbacks for the couple.
Following their lavish wedding ceremony last summer, Ms Bhogal’s health took a dramatic turn during their honeymoon, where she contracted E. coli and sprained her ankle.
Her misfortunes continued with an eye infection, being struck in the eye by a tennis ball, and an incident where she “projectile vomited over the side of a boat.”

The couple discovered they were expecting during a second honeymoon in Mexico last November, with Ms Bhogal recalling how “thrilled and elated” they both were at the news.
Tragically, she suffered a missed miscarriage just before Christmas, an experience that left her feeling utterly devastated.
“I then lost myself,” she wrote candidly about the aftermath of her pregnancy loss.
The couple had initially hoped to share their pregnancy news with excitement, but instead Ms Bhogal found herself recording an emotional video in January, revealing their loss.

“I didn’t know how to come back on here and just start posting recipes and content like everything was ok,” she admitted to her followers.
The baker spoke openly about her struggle to process the grief, describing herself as “heartbroken and really lost” whilst grappling with questions about what she might have done differently.
She confessed to feeling like a “failure” to herself and her loved ones, despite knowing rationally that the loss was not her fault.
During those difficult weeks, Ms Bhogal actively sought out others who had experienced similar losses, finding solace in a community of shared grief and hoping her openness might help others feel less isolated.

Ms Bhogal rose to prominence as a contestant on the 2018 series of Great British Bake Off, reaching the final despite having only been baking for a year before entering the competition.
Her husband James Stewart is a familiar face on BBC programming, known for his regular appearances on Morning Live as well as previous roles on Blue Peter and CBBC.
In a thoughtful gesture accompanying her pregnancy announcement, Ms Bhogal included a trigger warning for followers who might find such news difficult to see.
“I know these announcements can be super hard to see and read about for some, please prioritize yourself and feel free to mute or unfollow during this period,” she wrote, adding: “Sending you all lots of love.”
The couple also recently welcomed a rescue puppy into their home.
