Wigan Athletic have re-signed midfielder Max Power from fellow League One club Bradford City for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal.

The 32-year-old returns for his third spell at the Brick Community Stadium, having already made 244 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.

Power first arrived at Wigan under Gary Caldwell in July 2015, winning the League One title in his first season and, following relegation, he helped guide the club back to the second tier in 2018.

After leaving for Sunderland, Power returned to Wigan in 2021 where he won his third League One title in his first year back.

Power was Bradford’s club captain last season, helping them reach the play-offs in their first season back in League One where they were beaten 2-0 on aggregate by eventual winners Bolton Wanderers.

“Everyone has always known how big a part of my life this club is. Even when you leave, you never quite leave. It seems like a boomerang – everyone tends to come back,” Power told Wigan’s website., external

Head coach Gary Caldwell commented: “Max is someone I signed 11 years ago as a young player with his career ahead of him.

“I still think he’s got chapters to write in his career, which is why we have brought him back home for the third time. I believe his standards, leadership qualities, and playing qualities are going to be massive for the team next season.”
