An investigation has been launched following reports two teenage girls were sexually assaulted overnight in Nottingham.

The incidents are believed to have happened at around 11pm on Thursday, June 4, in the Old Market Square area in the city centre.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police attended the scene and placed a cordon in Norfolk Place.

The victims are now being supported by specialist officers, with detectives continuing to work with them to understand the circumstances surrounding the assaults.

Detective Inspector Beth Sheard, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Public Protection unit, said: “We know that these incidents are very concerning and I would like to reassure the victims and the wider public that we are doing everything we can to investigate these reports.

“Our investigation is now underway and I urge anyone who has any information to call Nottinghamshire Police immediately.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 879 of June 4 2026.
