The Princess of Wales stepped out in Italy today wearing an outfit that came to a total of £6,978.

Catherine, 44, is in Reggio Emilia for a two-day trip to focus on early childhood development, a cause that has become central to her public work.

The mother-of-three chose to wear a new Edeline Lee “Lola” jacket in the shade “cornflower” today. This garment retails for a whopping £1,400.

Catherine paired this with the Edeline Lee “Averill” trousers, also in the shade “cornflower”, which cost £650.

In addition, the princess wore a white bodysuit from Holland Cooper that she has worn in the past.

This item is still available for royal fans to purchase for a more affordable price at £139.

Catherine accessorised with an Asprey London “167” mini handbag in sky blue, which retails for an eye-watering £3,995.

For footwear, the 44-year-old donned Ralph Lauren “Celia” gold heels, which are sadly no longer in stock.

Fans loved Catherine’s look, with one writing on social media: “Class … light blue ‘azzurro’ is the Italian national colour.”

Another wrote: “Love to see her wear a bright colour!”

A third royal watcher commented: “Love the details on the jacket! The colour, the pearl buttons and the cinching at the back.
