As Britons prepare for their annual chocolate indulgence, GB News hosts Sophia Wenzler, Dawn Neesom and Charlie Peter have put some of the nation’s most sought-after Easter eggs to the test ahead of the holiday season.
In a comprehensive blind taste test of five eggs, supermarket offerings were pitted against premium chocolatiers, with all products presented anonymously to ensure impartial judging.
Each egg was evaluated purely on taste, with brand identities concealed from the panel. While the most expensive entry approached £35, the bulk of selections sat around the £11 mark.
The results pose a pertinent question for British consumers: Does shelling out more deliver a superior experience?

Claiming top honours across all three judges, Hotel Chocolat’s Everything Extra-Thick Easter Egg proved a big hit with presenters, helping justify its £34.95 price tag.
Charlie Peters praised its “sophisticated flavour”, declaring “I’m sticking with this one as my best”.
Priced at a modest £12, Marks and Spencer’s loaded half-egg interpretation of the viral Big Daddy chocolate bar also impressed judges, with Sophia making favourable comparisons to the beloved Snickers bar.
The M&S Outrageously Chocolatey Custard Cream Biscuity Egg, featuring a hollow milk chocolate shell embedded with biscuit pieces and a white chocolate custard truffle centre, secured second place.
“This is creamy,” Dawn observed. “This is like eating a biscuit.”
Asda’s Caramel, Pretzel, Honeycomb divided opinion, with some tasters appreciating the pretzel crunch while others felt caramel overpowered the honeycomb.

Dawn favoured the crunchy texture, though preferences varied considerably among the panel.
The Waitrose Loaded Caramel Egg, priced at £8.50, left less of a mark on the panel. With Hotel Chocolat’s Extra Thick Easter Egg emerging as the clear winner, it appears premium pricing may be an indicator of superior flavour after all.
