Millions of drivers could benefit from a new offer at popular supermarkets across the UK to help them earn loyalty points.

Motor Fuel Group is partnering with Morrisons to reward electric vehicle owners with More Points every time they charge at any MFG EV Power charging bay.

From Tuesday, March 17, electric vehicle drivers can earn five Morrisons More Points when they spend £1 at any MFG EV Power charger.

These points can be used at any Morrisons supermarket, although they are not yet redeemable at Morrisons Daily convenience stores.

Motorists can make use of the new scheme at all MFG EV Power locations across the UK, as the chargepoint operator works to accelerate its EV presence.

To support the new initiative, MFG EV Power will install 250 extra ultra-rapid EV charging bays at Morrisons forecourts this year.

These chargers will be capable of delivering up to 150kW, 300kW, and 400kW of power, all of which drivers have time to do their daily shop.

This also forms part of MFG’s £400million electric vehicle infrastructure programme, with an aim to install 3,000 ultra-rapid chargers at 500 sites by the end of the decade.

Martin Symes, EV Director at MFG, said: “We are delighted to partner with Morrisons to reward our EV Power customers with Morrisons More Points.

“This collaboration is another step forward in our commitment to creating a seamless, customer-focused EV charging experience.

“With the addition of 250 ultra-rapid charging bays this year at Morrisons sites, we are proud to play a leading role in building the infrastructure required for the UK’s electric future.”

MFG EV Power is the largest operator of rapid and ultra-rapid chargers with 2,789 chargers, according to the latest data from Zapmap.

MFG beats out the likes of Osprey (2,578), BP Pulse (2,506), InstaVolt (2,220) and even Tesla Supercharger (2,167).

Morrisons is also moving forward with additional amenities for electric car owners, with extra deals for those with zero emission vehicles.

Matt McLellan, group customer, marketing and data director at Morrisons, said the brand was constantly looking to support drivers with new offers.

He emphasised that the new partnership between the supermarket giant and MFG would “give our customers more value through the Morrisons More programme”.

Mr McLellan continued, saying: “Rewarding customers with five Morrisons More Points for every £1 spent charging at all MFG EV Power bays across the UK means they can earn valuable points on the road and enjoy savings when they shop with us in store.

“As more drivers make the switch to electric vehicles, it’s important that we continue to evolve our loyalty offering to reflect how our customers live their lives.

“By linking EV charging with Morrisons More Points, we’re making it even easier for customers to benefit from choosing Morrisons – whether they’re filling their fridge or powering their car.”
