Vauxhall has confirmed that its new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer will have the same price, regardless of whether drivers buy it as fully electric, hybrid, or plug-in hybrid.

The British automaker has confirmed that price parity will come to all of its powertrains, with further plans to introduce a petrol version later this year.

The new Vauxhall Astra has been upgraded with a refreshed design, new interior and electric powertrain, providing extra range for EV owners.

Astra Electric now features a larger 58.3kWh battery, with an impressive range of 281 models, as well as vehicle-to-load technology and battery preconditioning.

Drivers can further benefit from the new Astra Electric with savings of more than £5,000 compared to outgoing models, with the plug-in hybrid model also seeing the same.

The Electric All In offer will provide motorists with £500 towards an Ohme Pro home charger, Octopus Electroverse charging credit, Connected Kerb credit, or Tesco credit.

When switching to the Intelligent Octopus Go home energy tariff, drivers can get 10,000 miles worth of free home charging.

Vauxhall said: “New Astra is priced extremely competitively within its segment, with price parity across hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric models for every trim level.

“Unique in the market, price parity is also achieved across hatchback and Sports Tourer models.”

As with other Vauxhall models, all versions of the Astra model are placed under the £40,000 threshold (or £50,000 for EVs from April) for the Expensive Car Supplement.

Vauxhall estimates that this could save customers £2,200 in total Vehicle Excise Duty in the first six years of ownership.

Drivers will be able to choose from the Astra Griffin (£29,995), GS (£31,495) or the Ultimate (£33,995).

Vauxhall plans to open order books from June, with UK deliveries beginning in July for the Astra Griffin, GS and Ultimate variants.

The iconic British brand has captured more than five per cent of the UK’s new vehicle market share with 11,733 sales, alongside an impressive seven per cent increase in year-on-year sales.

Vauxhall’s Corsa model remains one of the most popular new cars among drivers across the country, with 4,237 sales in the first two months of the year, placing it fourth among the best-selling cars.

Several of Vauxhall’s EVs are eligible for Labour’s £2billion Electric Car Grant, including the Astra, Combo Life, Corsa, Frontera, Grandland, Mokka and Vivaro Life.
