A lorry driver has admitted causing the death of a mother who was struck by crane equipment while pushing a pram.
Rebecca Ableman was with her then two-year-old daughter in the village of Willingham, Cambridgeshire, when she was hit in September of 2022.
Driver Kevin Miller, aged 71, has admitted causing death by careless driving at Peterborough Crown Court.
He had been expected to go on trial today for causing death by dangerous driving but prosecutors accepted the charge of causing death by careless driving, the Daily Mail reports.
Prosecutor William Carter told the court the possibility of the plea was raised.
He said following a “great deal of consideration with everyone”, it had been decided the plea was acceptable.
The defendant is expected to be sentenced in April.
NHS worker Ms Ableman was 30 when she died three weeks after the collision on September 22, 2022.

Miller had been transporting scrap metal from King’s Lynn docks in Norfolk to Network Rail depots in Essex and Cambridgeshire when the incident occurred.
As he drove through the village, the crane equipment shifted from its position and was left dangling over the edge of the trailer, according to the Mail.
Miller alleged he was unaware of the incident when he was later arrested.
In a tribute issued by Cambridgeshire Police shortly after her death, Ms Ableman’s family described her as the “most amazing, strong and loving mummy”.
They said: “Becky was the light within our family. A beautiful partner, an aspiring sister and a precious daughter.
“The friend that brought everyone together and the colleague who helped so many who needed her.
“She was the most loving, caring and supportive partner you could ever wish for, she was always the light at the darkest of times.
“But most of all, she was the most amazing, strong, and loving mummy to her two-year-old daughter.
“Becky’s independence, kindness, determination and beauty will live on through her forever.
“She will always be her daughter’s superhero. We cherish every moment and memory we had together.”
A GoFundMe page launched after Ms Ableman’s death to help support her daughter and set up a memorial for her has raised more than £18,000.
The victim’s partner, Chris Tuczemskyi, who set up the online fundraiser, described her as being “my light in the darkest of nights”.
“She made me a better person, she pushed me to be and do better because she could see my potential when I could not,” he wrote.
